Why is Rhodium Coating Done?
Rhodium plating is used to enhance the luster and durability of metals such as silver and white gold and gives a smooth, shiny finish to the Jewelry. It is especially attractive when used for diamond rings, as it can really enhance the brilliance of the diamond. Most of the Jewelry items are Rhodium plated so as to enhance the life of the jewelry as Rhodium being harder than Silver and Gold ensures that the Jewelry is less susceptible to corrosion, damage, allowing your Jewelry to last longer.
How do we Measure this?
As seen above the Rhodium coating ensures the life of the item, however now it is important that we need to control the amount of plating done; Rhodium being very expensive it is very important to control the plating to ensure that there is no losses incurred due to the excess give away. Also for customer satisfaction it is also important to not only measure the coating but also to determine the composition of the actual Jewelry below the coating.
FISCHERSCOPE XRF devises with the reliable WinFTM software ensure the measurement of these Jewelry items with a single application. Where most of the other XRF technologies fail to measure the Rhodium coating thickness; Fischer XRF instruments simultaneously measure the Rhodium thickness and composition of the Jewelry item with high precision and repeatability.
Identification of Imitation Jewelry from Real Jewelry
What is Imitation Jewelry or 1-gram gold Jewelry?
Imitation jewelry are accessories that are made using a variety of artificial materials. The most common out of these are the 1-gram jewelry involving Gold plated on Silver items. Everyone are aware that the real Gold Jewelry items are very expensive and this means that one cannot buy such pieces of Jewelry at the beginning of each season; considering this the 1-gram Gold Jewelry becomes a viable option for such purchases.
How & Why do we Measure this?
So as one can see by the name itself this is basically an imitation of the original and not an original Gold Jewelry itself. So, the process involves plating of Gold on Silvery Jewelry or any other form of artifacts made of various alloys. Since Gold plating is involved in the process it is necessary for one to keep a track of the amount of Gold used in the process as the pricing of the final item is highly influenced by the amount of Gold used.
Fischer Instrument helps one to accurately measure this coating thickness and ensure that the losses incurred by excess plating is limited and minimized. Also, measurement ensures that the consumers are not cheated by plating low quantity of Gold. Along with the measurement of the thickness of the Gold plating Fischer instruments ensure that the identification of the metal alloy used in the manufacturing of the Jewelry item thereby ensuring that the Customer pays for what the Jewelry item is made of.
Using Fischer Instruments with this special ability of measuring Coating thickness and simultaneous composition analysis of the base material ensures that the Jeweler is being transparent with the end consumer and this in turn leverages is Brand value.
